Click this image for a larger versionLyricist v2.2 is our professional version of the ultimate songwriting tool.  No more folders full of unorganized document files!  No more searching through the pages of your rhyming dictionary, or scanning the thesaurus for just the right word.  Lyricist combines everything you need for lyric writing and archiving into one package!

Lyricist is now available for the ridiculously low price of $39.95 plus $7.95 shipping and handling (immediate USPS Priority Mail service - 2-3 days).  No, we're not insane!  Well, maybe a little.  We simply believe that Lyricist will prove to be the most useful tool in the lyric writer's arsenal, and we want to bring it to as many people as possible.

Features include:

  • Online File Copyright  Lyricist's Online File Copyright feature takes you to the website of Official Software, where you can copyright your Songs online.  There you can copyright your songs online or complete step-by-step online forms. As a Lyricist user you receive up to 20% off any Official online or software product to protect your music, lyrics, CDs, and other original works.
  • Chord Charting & Editing  The single most user-requested feature is finally here!  Lyricist comes complete with 2,550 different guitar chord symbols, representing a total of 425 chords with multiple voicings.  Insert chords into your lyrics with only a few mouse clicks!  New in v2.2: We have expanded our chord database with over 400 new and updated chord symbols!

Of course, there are more possible chord variations than any software program could ever contain, so Lyricist also lets you edit your own chord symbols.  If your fingers can play it, Lyricist can display it.  Check out the screenshots on this page for a closer look at this exciting new feature.

  • Chord Wizard  Most guitar players, at one time or another, have stumbled across a great-sounding chord while writing or practicing and not known what it was.  Plug the finger positions into Lyricist's new Chord Wizard and let it identify the chord for you!  Chord Wizard also provides a list of alternate chords you could create by simply changing a note or two.  Once you've identified your chord, you can insert it directly into your song.  Check out the screenshots on this page for a closer look at this exciting new feature.

  • Three different Lyricist Views  Version one featured a single window in which to edit your lyrics.  Lyricist features three different ways to view your work!  Lyrics View is the basic editing window.  Chord View lets you add guitar chord symbols to your lyrics.  And Arrange View lets you view your chord progressions without the lyrics.

  • Programmable text styles  If you normally show your title in blue 12-pt Verdana text, your verses in black 10-pt Arial, and your choruses in italics, you don't want to have to set each of those parameters every time you write a song.  With Lyricist's text styles, all you need to do is select your Title text and click the Title Style button...and bam!  You've got the text style you want.  Lyricist includes Style buttons for Title, Copyright, Chorus, Verse, Bridge, and two user-defined Styles.

  • Web link buttons  The Lyricist editing windows now include two new web link buttons.  The Links button takes you to our VSS links page, which directs you to websites about all aspects of music.  The OLGA button takes you to the On-Line Guitar Archive, a repository of guitar tablature from a variety of artists and genres.

  • Database-oriented storage  Most word processing applications store your work as a series of individual document files.  These can be difficult to manage and organize.  Lyricist stores your songs in a centralized database, making for easier management and backup.

Database storage also means "on the fly" saves!  This means that every time you click a button, switch songs, pretty much anything apart from individual keystrokes, your work is automatically saved.  You rarely ever have to hit the Save button (we gave you one anyway just for good measure).

  • Album categorization  Lyricist organizes your songs into Albums for easier reference.  You can even open an entire album at once with only a few mouse clicks!

  • Spell checker  No need to embarrass yourself bringing those typo-ridden lyric sheets to rehearsal.  Let Lyricist's spell-checker give it a once-over first.

  • Thesaurus  Already used the word "beautiful" eight times in this song?  There's gotta be another word for it...let Lyricist's built-in Thesaurus clue you in.  Remember...your vocabulary is only as limited as your resources.  A smart person knows a lot of words...a genius knows where to look them up!

  • Rhyming dictionary  If you're a lyric writer or poet, and you say you don't use a rhyming dictionary, you're either lying or...no, you're just lying.  There are few tools more valuable to the lyric writer, so we included one with over 11,000 of the most commonly used rhymes, including slang!

  • RTF file export  Save any song as an RTF (Rich-Text) file for viewing and editing in a number of word processing programs such as MS-Word.

  • Email your songs!  Lyricist will even attach your song (as an RTF file) to an email so you can swap songs with your friends!  (Requires an email application)

  • Media file launch  Do you have an MP3, WAV, MIDI, or RA file of the song you're working on?  Maybe a rough mix or a scratch track?  Or maybe you have a scanned file of the song's copyright form, or a spreadsheet of recording expenses, or any other file that relates to your song.  Link the file to the song and you can launch the file with one click!  Lyricist opens the file using your computer's default program for that file type.  No need to switch to Explorer or your Desktop to find that file and then go through the process of opening it.  Just click and go!
